Liz Scott - Unleashing the Voice of Women
Sunday 16th October, 2022
13.30 – 15.30 Workshop 3: Liz Scott
'Unleashing the Voice of Women'
Do you have something to say, but you’re not sure how to go about it? Would you like to share your ideas more widely; to contribute to the world through writing?
Many women, particularly older women, find that their voices are not heard in society. They find themselves side-lined and anonymous. However, the world desperately needs to hear the insights of older, wiser women. There is a wealth of knowledge, experience, compassion and resourcefulness that is not being shared more widely. If you have something to say, this is your chance to find your voice.
In this workshop you’ll be having a go at writing - so bring a pen and paper. You’ll be encouraged to:
Play lightly with ideas;
Find topics and themes that feel relevant to you;
Write and experiment with your voice and what you want to say.
Liz Scott is the newly published author of the book ‘To Listen is To Love’. It took her 30 years and dozens of drafts and half-written manuscripts, before she overcame the hurdle of trusting her ‘voice’ to self-publish her book. She is inspired by the hidden power and voice of women and the power of writing to make a positive transformation in the world.
When Liz Scott published her first book this year (To Listen is to Love) she realised that writing gave her a chance to be heard. Liz is part of a generation of wise, hard-working women who are 'unsung heroes.' These women provide a backbone of support to family and society.
Liz has had a career as a broadcast journalist (with the BBC) and now runs a Social Enterprise as a coach and wellbeing trainer. She is fascinated at unlocking the voices of women and she sees that writing is a wonderful vehicle for women to be expressed and to be heard.
