'Poetry - A Fresh Look & A Fresh Listen’

A workshop aimed at freshening up your ideas on writing and performing your poetry, and some thoughts on getting published. We will look at a few poems by outstanding poets in depth and discuss. There will also be time to look at a poem of yours – please bring enough copies for everyone! (ie 13)

David was born in Plymouth and has worked in literature, primarily poetry, for over 30 years.

He has published a pamphlet and four collections of poems, the most recent Dear Life (with Ann Gray) from Cornish Press Scryfa in 2022.

He has also co-edited anthologies on Bob Dylan and The Beatles for Seren Press.

He was inaugural Chair of Plymouth Arts Forum, inaugural Chair of the National Association of Literature Development, and Chair of Festivals of Wales for three years.

He is a Fellow of the Welsh Academi of Literature and served on the Board of Literature Wales for ten years.

He founded and edited the SW literary and arts magazine Westwords for six years in the 1980s/90s.

He was Director of Events and Festivals at the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea 1996 – 2010.

He co-directed the Bodmin Moor Poetry Festival from 2012 – 2019.

He has given hundreds of readings, talks and workshops all over Britain and Ireland and in Holland.
