Laurence McPartlin was born in Hartlepool; after leaving school he worked in the local steelworks, before venturing to a new career at a hotel at Lochinver, Scotland. His travels then took him south to work in hotel management in Harrogate, before finally putting his roots down in the leafy South Hams, Devon, United Kingdom. He enjoys playing the guitar, song writing and sketching.

“You are all welcome to....

Come dance with me

On a pale white shore

To the sound of the crazy sea

Where wild winds take your breath away

And set your spirit free....”

Laurence works as a volunteer for the RNIB - Royal National Institute of Blind People - producing stories on USB sticks, helping to end isolation for blind and partially sighted people and giving them the freedom to read again. He is particularly delighted that his book Wake the Stars has also been made available in braille.
